One of the finest Japanese Green Teas is the Gyokuro Asahi. Countless measures are taken in processing this delicate, rare green tea. For over 25 days Gyokuro tea is kept under 90% shade, protecting its mystic flavor. After the first buds appear, growers cover the entire crop with bamboo in order to inhibit photosynthesis. The reason for this is so that Gyukoru develops higher chlorophyll content, making the green tea leaves dark green. The result is a sweet flavor and aroma with a silky-smooth finish. Our growers hand-pick all of the tea leaves, removing any sub-quality and undesirable leaves. The tea leaves are then steamed, fluffed, and pressed to encapsulate this precious tea’s flavor. The tea is then shipped to Tea Bazaar where they may soon find a home in your cup. This green tea will produce a sweet, clear cup that requires steeping for only 3 minutes.
